Hello my polka dotted blog!
Today is a very exciting day!
Up and early and I was out for my attachement at Gleaneagles.
Let me tell you a little about Dr Peter Chew, who was so generous and understanding as to take me and allow me to shadow him.
Honestly, He is really a role model and inspiration!
He is a senior consultant @ Gleaneagles, basically he has opened his own clinic for 10 years.
He runs aLife organisation (www.alife.org.sg)--or rather you can say he founded it. It is a charitable organisation that aims at helping to educate people about sexuality issues. And even teenage abortion cases. Really interesting because he has been going to ITE to give talks!!! :D
Cool. I can see the no of open doors it could potentially lead to.
In addition, he writes for Mind Your Body, and he has written a chinese book which was telecast on Channel 8!
Plus, he is super good at helping couples conceive!
And another thing is, he is a catholic and guess what, he helps pple to solemnise marriages!:)
Is that a man that has achieved much or what? Indeed man.
Well, now that my intro is over. Let's talk about the exciting thing that happened today.
are you ready.... 1...2...3....
I WITNESSED A DELIVERY OF A BABY TODAY! ONSET!
hahah. Serious.Even though you might think i'm crazy at this point to be so hyper about sth like that.
Well, the adventure starts when i followed him to the labour ward. Not walkin ok. SPRINTING!
Hahah. we ran through a "secret" compartment. It was like filming Mission Impossible.
Run through the hallways and going thru secret doors. From the clinic side, a door opened to lead to the Ward area! SSooo cool!
Then finally when i was in the labour ward, i saw how a delivery was being carried out.
Dr Chew used the forceps to pull the baby's head. And like wow..you can see the whole vaginal area got a super big hole (RA for those under 21)!
And. to add on to that note, it was superr bloody!
Haha. Blood was dripping all over the floor. And i peeped at the baby when it came out. It was like spurting out amniotic fluid. *gross*
But it was super cool and refreshing to actually see it yourself. And Dr Chew is so skilled even when he tied up the knots and sealed the hole.
:) and there at 9.48 am, a new life was born
I may not know her name, nor her family background.
But one thing i know, is that God is thinkin about her as He brought her into this world! God is the giver of life!
and so.. once again, i'm convicted that this is what i want to do in life!
1:03 AM
lots of love, lil' miss geek :).
